Regarding some questions about the Free US Number, the customer service provided detailed answers :
Q1: Is KnowRoaming Global SIM Card a $0/month basically, no need to purchase credit and data plan?
A1: Any unused credits and packages will expire after 9 months from purchase. You can still use your SIM and the assigned number even after the credits and packages expire. You will only have to add credits should you wish to use the services (Calls, SMS, and Data)
Q2: Should I need to add credit every 9 months to keep the free US number?
A2: Not necessarily, the account will remain active even after 9 months without any additional top-ups. The only time that we will cancel any account is if there is no activity for 15 months.
However, should you wish to continue your service after that time period, you may just simply log into your KnowRoaming APP, and this will trigger and show us that you are still using your account. This can be done even if you’re not traveling abroad.
These measures are in place because otherwise, we have no way to tell if someone has stopped using an account, so it will allow us to better service our current customers if we can weed out those accounts that are not being used.
Q3: How long do SIM accounts last?
A3: Accounts that have been inactive for 15 months (no activity on the account) will be expired. You will be notified by email twice that your account is going to expire soon. One email reminder will occur after 14 months of inactivity, and the final reminder will occur after 14 months and 2 weeks of inactivity.
You can simply log into the app to reset the clock, or connect your phone to the network (no usage needed). You can either log in to the app or connect the SIM to a network to reset the clock.
Q4: Can I receive an SMS verification code by using this phone number?
A4: Shortcode SMS is not supported. Short code SMS such as verification codes from banks or websites/apps you register to will not be delivered as this is not being sent from real mobile numbers.
